2025 Outstanding Youth Peaceworker

Year granted award: 2025

Work Description

Born from a 2008 peacebuilding workshop, the Peace Activists from Afghanistan (PAA) grew into a diverse youth-led movement promoting nonviolence, equality, and sustainability. They created Peace Park, ran permaculture workshops, and opened a free school for working children, combining education with food support. Through campaigns, global dialogues, and ecological projects, PAA fostered peace and solidarity across 73 countries. Their work continues abroad, with plans for Afghanistan’s first Institute for Nonviolence and Sustainability. PAA proves that even in conflict, youth can lead transformative change—patiently building peace, community, and hope.
