OUTSTANDING PEACEEDUCATION

On Friday, 22 June 2018, peace activists from around the world will gather at the historic European Parliament building in Luxembourg to celebrate the nomination of the 2018 Luxembourg Peace Prize Laureates.

The distinguished peace makers of 2018 represent a diverse mix of Activists, Political Leaders, Business Leaders and Artists from all corners of the globe.

Peace activists from around the world were awarded at the sixth annual Luxembourg Peace Prize on 30 June in the historic European Parliament building in Luxembourg.

The Peace Prize was initiated in 2012 to honour laureates in the following categories: Peace Activists, Peace Education, Peace Organization, Public Peace Efforts, Peace Support, Peace Technology, Youth Peacemaker, Peace Process, Environmental Peace and Peace Journalism.

The Peace Prize was initiated in 2012 to honour laureates in the following categories: Peace Activists, Peace Education, Peace Organization, Public Peace Efforts, Peace Support, Peace Technology, Youth Peacemaker, Peace Process, Environmental Peace and Peace Journalism.

Since 2012, the Luxembourg Peace Prize has honoured individuals or organisations who share the goals of the World Peace Forum, bringing harmony among their community.

This year’s edition will grant around a dozen awards to the outstanding in a variety of categories, ranging from activism and youth to journalism, technology and more. Each recipient is selected by a panel of international advisors who have made peace contributions in their respective fields.

On June 22, SEKEM had been awarded the 2018 Outstanding Environmental Peace Prize during the Luxembourg Peace Prize ceremony. The “Schengen Peace Foundation and the “World Peace Forum” recognized SEKEM for its commitment to sustainable development with an integral dedication. The prize for Outstanding Environmental Peace seeks an individual or organization which builds peace directly or promotes culture of peace via environmental initiatives or practices.

LUXEMBOURG, LUX- The Peace and Collaborative Development Network (PCDN) will be awarded the 2018 Outstanding Peace Support Prize during the Luxembourg Peace Prize ceremony June 22. PCDN democratizes access to information to help individuals and organizations sustain and scale social change. It envisions a world in which all have access to resources, information and inspiration to create positive change in the world.

Syrian antiques dealer Halim Abdoulrazzak’s friendly smily face is a welcome ray of sunshine for the displaced people who first arrive in Luxembourg.

He began writing novels at the age of 50 after retiring from his job as a high-ranking official in the Algerian government.

The assassination of President Mohamed Boudiaf in 1992 and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Algeria inspired him to write about his country.
